Sir Harris! - [The Mama]

Harris was able to go the Waukesha Scottish Festival this year and met some wonderful people in the McLeod Tent.  Miss Pat fell for Harris' charms and sent him this Knight outfit as a gift and Harris Loved it!

He was shouting and running at his Papa.  They battled with sword and battle-axe. The had so much fun playing together.

Busy month - Exciting month! - [The Mama]

Harris is doing so much this summer!  He is growing tons in height and weight.  Last night he was 45 pounds.  He was so excited he wanted to call his grandpa in Wisconsin.  No answer so he left the best message!

He is also speaking very well!  He is answering some Who/What/When/Where/Why and How questions properly.  He is talking (understandably - is that even a word?) more and more and has even begun singing Keith Green songs!

Harris spent this summer going to the Salvation Army's Summer Day Camp program and had a blast!  They went bowling, to an Air Zoo, to a museum, to a Kids Museum (hands on), to Old Country Buffet, Chuck E Cheese's...  he really enjoyed making friends with the other boys and girls there.  They all seemed to really like him and he was able to play piano quite a bit for them all.

Today we went to a Scottish Festival and had a great time.  We saw Highland Cows and even a baby one, Clydesdale Horses, Sheep, Ducks, Border Collies, Carin Terriers, and one or two Scottish Terriers.  We also saw 5 Bagpipe and Drum bands!  He was so excited when the did the Mass Band gathering in the main viewing circle.  To have 5 bands of Bagpipes and Drums seem to be heaven to him.  If he'd had wings I think he would have been flying!

When we were getting ready to leave we met up with one bagpiper who took the time to show Harris his instrument and let us take pictures.  Then when we were almost to the gate a couple came running to us and gave us a business card for his bagpipe business and a 16 year old girl drummer spent time playing on a practice pad with Harris and was blown away by the way he could play the Scottish rhythms without ever having a lesson.  She was very sweet and showed him the proper way to hold the drum sticks for scottish playing.

Goal Oriented Boy!!! - [The Mama]

Harris is sooo Goal Oriented right now.  He is really wanting to play Animal Crossing on a Gamecube.  Unfortuanately we do not own one.  We will not go out and buy one either.  So now Harris is trying to work and earn money for a used system.  He has saved over $11.00 since Friday!  He has worked picking up sticks and weeds and he worked with his Papa Sunday clearing concrete and rocks from our front yard where we have done some work tearing down our front steps.  We are very proud of the work he is doing.

We are also using this as an opportunity to teach Harris about Tithing.  He has an envelope with the Tithe money in it and he and his Papa go over the spiritual reasons for tithing.  Harris and his mama have been working on math adding his total earned and subtracting from how much he needs.  See, God always makes a way if you look to teach your children about him!

Working Boy!

Clearing Concrete - Wouldn't stop until they had cleared it all!

Sometimes a little push will give Great Results! - [The Mama]

Harris loves his music.  He loves his piano.  He loves his keyboards.  He loves his guitar.  He loves his concert snare drum.  He really loves his CD player that plays almost continuous Scottish music.  Mostly he plays the music of bagpipes, but he will listen to anything that is played on the Scotland Music series of CDs.

Lately Papa and I have been pushing Harris to play chords with his left hand while he plays his intricate melodies with his right hand.  He has been resisting - but now - he is doing it.  Click on the picture below to see and hear him playing his favorite song, Amazing Grace.  He even hums along to his playing and you can hear him if you listen closely.

Look of pure J-O-Y!!!!Amazing Grace!  Amazing JOY!

Word from the Doctor - [The Papa]

This is the latest word since the last news post.

Since Harris' episode at school we made it into see his doctor on Tuesday.  The doctor thinks Harris most likely had a seizure.  When Harris was very hyperactive that in itself could have been part of continued seizure activity.

Nov 12th Harris goes in for a sleep deprived EEG.  That may shed more light on what happened with Harris.

Harris Flying a Kite

In the meantime we just go on as usual.  Harris hasn't visibly shown any signs that anything out of the ordinary ever took place.

Thanks for your continued prayer and support.
